Acupuncture for Labour Induction and Pain Reduction During Delivery, Cervical Priming, and Turning Breech Babies

Acupuncture for Labour Induction and Pain Reduction During Delivery, Cervical Priming, and Turning Breech Babies

Acupuncture is a trusted and effective way to support pregnancy, especially in preparing for childbirth. It can be used for labour induction and pain reduction during delivery, priming the cervix, and even assisting with turning a breech baby to the optimal position.

Cervical Priming and Labour Induction
Starting around 36/37 weeks, acupuncture can gently prepare the body for labour by promoting cervical ripening and optimizing the body’s readiness for delivery. This proactive approach helps stimulate hormone release and increase blood flow to the uterus, encouraging natural progression toward labour as well as a potentially less difficult and painful delivery process.

Turning a Breech Baby
When a baby is in a breech position between weeks 32 and 37, acupuncture combined with moxibustion can help promote movement. This technique creates a warming effect that encourages fetal activity and allows the baby to turn head-down, preparing for a smoother delivery. Jessica offers coaching to guide you or your partner on using moxa for home treatments. For optimal results, this treatment should be repeated for 15 minutes daily over up to five days until the baby turns.

Each session is customized to ensure comfort and address both physical and emotional needs as you approach the final stages of pregnancy.
